week #8 Zoho

Wow, Holly macrow Batman, This Zoho tool is great. I would need a week or two to explore, learn, and try out all of its features. I diffinaltely see the usefulness in it and appreciate the user friendliness tool bar. As an on-line college student Zoho is wonderful for working in groups. Right now at San Jose' State University we use Elluminate at a tool that allows us to share files, use a whiteboard, text boxes, and pass the mic to talk to each other. I like that one could add pictures or slideshows with Zoho. I diffinatelly want to really learn and fell comfortable using all aspects of this Zoho tool. Have a fun day. Sara

Wiki

Hey i like to wiki.
I used wiki for a school report. I found it interesting and useful. The library wiki's that we went to for this assignment were great. I learned about Spokane county, New Orleans, and 10 ways patrons can help spread the word about how great our library is. I will do more exploring when i find time. Sara

Library 2.0 #13, 14, & 15

The articles where interesting, here are my notes:
Away From The Icebergs
  • Technology changes mean Library changes
  • Libraries need to change with the times. Yet, I personally feel we have proven that collections are always useful.
  • Libraies are no longer in the print area. Meaning that informtion is every where, and as easy as pushing a few buttons.
  • Libraries need to create new ways of serving our patron's.

Into a New World of Libraries

  • The bibrary is human, it us run by humans and is for humans.
  • Libraries will be guided by how users access, consume, and create content.
  • Libraries will take on a teaching mode. Teaching patrons how to acquire information for themselfs.

To More Powerful Ways to Cooperate

  • Users add value
  • Library staff will serve patron's by teaching them how to use and then retrieve information by tagging, google, WorldCat, RSS, blogging, flicer,etc.. utilizing all the componets in Library 2.0.

Hi you all,
I did exercise #14. I did not find anything that really interested me. I found some pron sites i had not desire to explore. I went into the writers stike page and hit a road block. It is nice learning new things though.
